The Coffs Coast & Clarence CanDo Cancer Trust supports patients and families attending the North Coast Cancer Institute.

In an effort to ensure funds remain in the local area and help those most in need, the CanDo Cancer Trust Committee, along with the generous support of the Coffs Coast Freemasons, established the Trust to distribute funds to patients and families affected by cancer.

We are seeking Primary and High School Relay Swimming teams to participate in our 2018 Charity Swim. Why participate?

  1. You will be assisting Cancer Patients and their families who are doing it tough – each year Cando provides support to over 100 local families totalling $60,000 – to do this we need to raise funds at events like this
  2. You can raise funds for your school as all funds above $250 raised can be retained by your school eg your P&C or Student Council could drive this and raise thousands for the school
  3. You can win awards on the day for completing the most laps in your category and also raising the most funds

As usual, we will have the 2 lanes of the pool, 1 being the Main and for “serious swimmers”, the second being for “fun/community” swimmers and this year we would like to expand to have a lane specifically for school teams (refer below);

Coffs Coast Cando Cancer Trust Rottnest Channel Swim School’s Challenge – 2018

This is our Eighth Annual Charity Swim and we are keen to have local schools (both primary and high schools) participate in this event. As an incentive, we are aiming to have 10 school teams (5 primary and 5 High Schools) with each making a donation of $250 to Cando. Each team can fund raise through the school, any funds in excess of $250 can be retained by the school for their own projects. Each team can have 4 (or more) swimmers and will be allocated a 30 minute block to swim as many laps as possible. There will be awards for the High School team who swim the most laps in 30 minutes, Primary School team who swim the most laps in 30 minutes, the High School team who raises the most funds (noting the donation remains at $250 and the school will retain the balance) and the Primary School team who raises the most funds. School Principals will advise Cando as to how much has been raised.

All funds raised will support local patients and families affected by cancer and attending the North Coast Institute at Coffs Harbour Health Campus.

Bookings are essentials. Please call Wayne Edwards on 0477299769 or email wedw9236@bigpond.net.au to register and be involved in this great event.
